“Success Story” Released Two Years Today!

Today marks the 2-year anniversary of John Anthony’s sixth studio album #SuccessStory.

John Anthony sixth album “Success Story” released on March 24, 2023 and featured 20 songs. It had two features from rappers J Mont and Larry Bellyfate. The album also contained four skits spread throughout the album, voiced by Tyler Ivie.

The album was announced in early February 2023, and later followed up with two album singles: “IDFWY” and “Montana”. The theme for the album was portrayed to give a classic, retro, 1950’s style aesthetic, presented in black and white.

Inspiration for the album was stated that gangster films and shows such as #Scarface, #Goodfellas, #TheSopranos, #Casino, #TheGodfather, #Irishman, #TheDeparted and #DonnieBrascowere all key parts in the influence of the album and its songs. The albums second single, “Montana”, tributes the film “Scarface” and the fictional character Tony Montana. Several scenes from the movie were incorporated through the songs hook, as well as the singles artwork honoring an identical artwork as the films movie poster.

John Anthony also stated this is the first album he fully produced and sampled tracks on. The album earned a lot of credit in streams, as it currently sits as the 2nd most streamed John Anthony album, behind #Villaination!, with over 180k streams through all major streaming platforms. It has over 91k streams alone on #Spotify.

In Spring 2024, John Anthony received a 2x commemorative gold record plaque for fasted to reach 10k streams its first two weeks and fastest to reach 50k streams.
